Sienna Valley Launch – The D Hotel 11th June 2008

On the 11th of June 2008 the principals of the North Drogheda Environs Group (NDEG) invited a group of stakeholders in Drogheda Town to the D Hotel to reveal their plans for the creation of a sustainable new community for the Town over the next 7+ years in the North Drogheda Environs.

Tony Kearon, General Manager of NDEG, welcomed the guests and all were then treated to a short presentation by two of the NDEG principals, Chairman Ray Acheson of Euro Construction and Richard Hoare of the North Drogheda Development Partnership. The name Sienna Valley was unveiled along with an overview of the proposed plans for the development. There was also a DVD about Sienna Valley shown for the first time which consisted of simulated computer generated imagery and gave the audience an appreciation for the high design standard and the level of attention to detail that can be expected from the planned community. Included in the various presentations was information regarding Sienna Valley’s award winning design & extensive amenities. Indicative timelines for the delivery of key infrastructure were also presented.

Orla Fitzgerald from Fitzgerald and Associates Architects outlined Sienna Valley's plans for a unique linear parkland, play areas and creative open spaces within the development.

The presentation highlighted the benefits of the development to the greater Drogheda region including:

  • A master planned, phased & sustainable community development which will underpin a significant proportion of Drogheda's future growth.
  • Economic boost: Significant job creation & additional spending power for the region.
  • New jobs during Sienna Valley construction & permanent jobs at the neighbourhood centres.
  • Potential for several thousand jobs in adjacent lands, which are commercially zoned and suitable for development as Business & Technology Parks.
  • Major infrastructural benefits for Drogheda to be front loaded and funded by NDEG Limited including the much anticipated Port Access Northern Cross Route (PANCR).
  • New amenities: 3 Neighbourhood Villages, 3 Primary Schools, Transport Hub, Park ’n Ride Facility, Linear Park & Regional Sports Centre
  • A strong lobbying partner for new train station as well as the regional hospital and other community facilities

Following the presentations, a selection of canapés was served to the 150 guests who attended including local TD’s and Councillors, local clergy members, retailers, business people and land owners. The evening proved to be an outstanding success with positive feedback from the attendees for the development. Brochures that were distributed on the night can be downloaded here.
